TISSOT



A Swiss watchmaker company, has been a member of the The Swatch Group Ltd., the largest watch producer and distributor in the world, since 1983.

Founded in 1853 by Charles-Felicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile who established the Tissot factory in the Swiss city of Le Locle, in the Neuchâtel area of the Jura Mountains.

TAG HEUER


A Swiss luxury watchmaker known for its sports watches and chronographs. It is a division of luxury goods company LVMH.

Edouard Heuer founded a watchmaking company in St-Imier, Switzerland in 1960.
TAG Heuer was formed in 1985 when TAG (Techniques d'Avant Garde), manufacturers of high-tech items such as ceramic turbochargers for Formula One cars, acquired Heuer.

SWATCH


Swatch is a brand name for a line of wrist watches from the Swatch Group, a Swiss conglomerate with vertical control of the production of Swiss watches and related products. The biggest watch manufacturer in the world.

The first meaning of the name "Swatch" was "Second Watch" -- because the new watch was introduced with a new concept of watches as casual, fun, and relatively disposable accessories. However Franz Sprecher conceived it as the contraction of Swiss (Made) Watch: "S'Watch", soon became "Swatch" as it is today perceived worldwide.

 It was formed in 1983 through the merging of the two Swiss watch manufacturers ASUAG and SSIH, and took its present name in 1998 (formerly SMH Swiss Corporation for Microelectronics and Watchmaking Industries Ltd). The company is led by G. Nicolas (Nick) Hayek, Jr., son of the co-founder and current chairman Nicolas Hayek.

In 1982, Swatch was conceived and it was introduced to the market in Switzerland in March 1983. The first collection of twelve Swatch models was introduced on March 1, 1983 in Zürich, Switzerland.

YAMAHA



A multinational corporation and conglomerate based in Japan with a wide range of products and services, predominantly musical instruments, motorcycles, power sports equipment, and electronics.

Yamaha was established in 1897 as a piano and reed organ manufacturer by Torakusu Yamaha as Nippon Gakki Company, Limited (Literally Japan Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co.) in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka prefecture.
The company's origins as a musical instrument manufacturer is still reflected today in the group's logo—a trio of interlocking tuning forks.

TOSHIBA


A diversified manufacturer and marketer of advanced electronic and electrical products, spanning information & communications equipment and systems, Internet-based solutions and services, electronic components and materials, power systems, industrial and social infrastructure systems, and household appliances.


Toshiba was founded by the merging of two companies in 1939.

One, Tanaka Seizosho (Tanaka Engineering Works), was Japan's first manufacturer of telegraph equipment and was established by Hisashige Tanaka in 1875. In 1904, its name was changed to Shibaura Seisakusho (Shibaura Engineering Works). Through the first part of the 20th century Shibaura Engineering Works became a major manufacturer of heavy electrical machinery as Japan modernized during the Meiji Era and became a world industrial power.
The second company, Hakunetsusha, was established in 1890 and was Japan's first producer of incandescent electric lamps. It diversified into the manufacture of other consumer products and in 1899 was renamed Tokyo Denki (Tokyo Electric).
The merger in 1939 of Shibaura Seisakusho and Tokyo Denki created a new company called Tokyo Shibaura Denki (Tokyo Shibaura Electric). It was soon nicknamed Toshiba, but it was not until 1978 that the company was officially renamed Toshiba Corporation.

TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, and MT Liao founded ASUS on 2 April 1990 in Taipei, Taiwan — all four founders worked as computer engineers for Acer.
The company explains the name ASUS as originating from Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology.The new organization used only the last four letters of the word in order to give the resulting name a high position in alphabetical listings.

Nokia's history starts in 1865 when mining engineer Fredrik Idestam established a groundwood pulp mill on the banks of the Tammerkoski rapids in the town of Tampere, in southwestern Finland, and started manufacturing paper.In 1868, Idestam built a second mill near the town of Nokia, fifteen kilometres west of Tampere by the Nokianvirta river, which had better resources for hydropower production.In 1871, Idestam, with the help of his close friend statesman Leo Mechelin, renamed and transformed his firm into a share company, thereby founding the Nokia Company, the name it is still known by today.The name of the town, Nokia, originated from the river which flowed through the town.

Founded by William (Bill) Hewlett and David (Dave) Packard in 1939.
Hewlett and Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett. Packard won the coin toss but named their electronics manufacturing enterprise the "Hewlett-Packard Company". HP incorporated on August 18, 1947, and went public on November 6, 1957.

MOTOROLA



An American, multinational, Fortune 100, telecommunications company. Manufacturer of wireless telephone handsets, and also designs and sells wireless network infrastructure equipment such as cellular transmission base stations and signal amplifiers. Motorola's home and broadcast network products include set-top boxes, digital video recorders, and network equipment used to enable video broadcasting, computer telephony, and high-definition television.


Motorola was founded by Paul Galvin and Joseph Galvin in 1928 in Chicago, Illinois as 'Galvin Manufacturing Corporation' .
The name Motorola was adopted in 1930. Founders came up with the name Motorola when the company started manufacturing car radios in 1930; the name is a combination of "motor" and the suffix "ola" that was used at the time in various product names.

COMPAQ




Once the largest supplier of personal computing systems in the world, Compaq existed as an independent corporation until 2002, when it merged with Hewlett-Packard.

The company was formed by Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto — former Texas Instruments senior managers.
The name "COMPAQ" was derived from "Compatibility and Quality", as at its formation Compaq produced some of the first IBM PC compatible computers.
